This blog deals with the question how our blue planet works. Such a huge question can be addressed in many ways but interdisciplinary thinking is probably the most useful hammer for such a big nail. Scientific fields such as biogeochemistry or earth system science thrive at the intersections between physics, chemistry, biology and mathematical modeling. This sounds complicated and it is. Here I collect, sort out and cook up ideas from different sources with the hope that they may be useful for solving the puzzle how our lonely planet managed to carry life around the sun for 4 billion years.
